A Pilgrimage to the
Mayan Temples of
Palenque, Yaxchilan &
Bonampak
With 4 nights in San
Cristobal de las Casas
November 7-15, 2009 |
|
|
Once upon an
ancient time... |
|
 |
|
The Emerald
Tablets
of Thoth the
Atlantean were
brought to this
area by pyramid
priests from the
Land of Khem
(Egypt).
The Lost Hall of
Records
spoken of by the
sleeping prophet
Edgar Cayce were
said to be
buried deep
within a hidden
chamber of this
land. His
prophecy
indicates these
records will be
rediscovered in
this time now.
The Keys of
Enoch
describes this
region as
Zarahemla, Head
of the Dove, and
home of the
Brotherhood.
There exists a
sacred grid
network between
Palenque,
Teotihuacan,
Chichen-Itza and
Oaxaca.
The Avatar Pacal
Votan,
the Magician of
Time, resided in
the holy city of
Palenque, and
his body still
rests in the
largest and most
magnificent
sarcophagus in
the ancient
Americas. He
prophesied that
all initiates
would once again
return to
receive his
teachings and
the knowledge of
cosmic wisdom at
the Temple of
the
Inscriptions.

ITINERARY
Day 1:
Group arrival at
Tuxtla Gutierrez
International
airport. We will
depart by
private van for
a 45 minute
drive through
the highlands of
Chiapas to one
of the most
enchanting
colonial cities
in Mexico...San
Cristobal de las
Casas! Our
"home" while in
San Cristobal is
a BEAUTIFUL
colonial style
hotel with
fragrant
courtyards,
located in the
heart of the
city and within
easy walking
distance of the
Mercado's and
fabulous
restaurants! You
will have time
to relax and
unwind before we
meet in the
evening for a
delicious
welcome
reception and
dinner! (Welcome
reception,
Dinner,
overnight San
Cristobal) |
|
Day 2:
After breakfast,
we will take a
guided walking
tour down
cobblestoned
streets and
red-tiled
rooftops to
discover the
magic of San
Cristobal! The
presence of the
ancient Maya is
still strongly
sensed here in
the deeply
rooted
indigenous
traditions of
its people.
Farmers and
crafts people
from all over
the region come
to the local
Mercado's to
sell their
beautiful
handmade crafts
and colorful
textiles; fresh
cut flowers, and
vibrant fruits
and vegetables.
We will have
lunch at a
favorite local
restaurant, and
the afternoon
will be free to
explore the many
museums,
cathedrals and
quaint shops
surrounding the
plaza. In the
evening, Cynthia
will present a
lecture on
Zarahemla, The
Emerald Tablets
of Thoth and the
Coming Golden
Age of Light, in
preparation for
our journey to the ancient
sites. (Breakfast,
overnight San
Cristobal)
|
|
Day 3: We
depart after
breakfast to a
sanctuary
near Ocosingo,
where a Mayan
shaman will
speak to us
about the
ancient
prophecies for
this time, and
perform a
special blessing
way ceremony for
our group. From
there, we travel
to Tonina, a
complex of
temples built on
seven terraces,
and place of
legends
regarding
mysterious
tunnels and
passageways...one
which is said to
connect with
Palenque. From
Toninah, we
continue on to
our beautiful
retreat
paradise, built
within the
shadows of the
ancient Mayan
empire of
Palenque. This
jungle resort is
part of a nature
reserve with
sacred pools
(Mayan cenotes)
near the crystal
clear waters of
the Michol
River.
Heaven!
(Breakfast,
overnight
Palenque)
|
|
 |
|
Day 4 & 5:
We will spend
the next two
days at one of
the most
wondrous and
mysterious of
all ancient
Mayan cities...Palenque!
This site
contains some of
the finest
architecture,
and most well
preserved
sculpture, and
bas relief
carvings ever
found in the
Mayan world.
This is the
dwelling place
of the "magician
of Time," Lord
Pacal Votan. His
body was
ceremoniously
placed in the
largest and most
magnificent
sarcophagus ever
discovered in
the Americas,
the Temple of
the Inscription!
Next to his
temple, another
royal temple
with a burial
chamber was
discovered...and
it was dedicated
to a royal
woman, La Reina
Roja...something
never before
seen in the
Mayan world! We
will explore
these temple
sites and
excavated parts
of Palenque, as
well as the less
explored areas,
where pottery
shards and
obsidian blades
still lay on the
earthen path
through the
jungle, and
waterfalls of
crystal clear
water spring
forth from the
mountains. We
will also visit
the celebrated
Museum of
Palenque with
its exquisite
Mayan treasures.
(Breakfast, two
nights Palenque)
|
 |
|
Day 6: We
journey early
morning into the
rainforest down
the Usumacinta
River by
lancha boat
to the
breathtaking
ancient Mayan
site of
Yaxchilan,
"the place of
the prophecy,"
and Bonampak,
to see the
magnificent
colored murals
of the ancient
Maya. Back to
our jungle
paradise near
the ruins of
Palenque.
(Breakfast,
overnight
Palenque)
Day 7: On
the way back
through the
emerald green
mountains to San
Cristobal, we
visit the
Misol Ha
Waterfall
(meaning
"streaming
water"), one of
Chiapas' most
wonderful
natural sights!
Falling off the
edge of a 120
ft. cliff into a
deep pool, it is
surrounded by
lush jungle
vegetation, and
is deliciously
refreshing for
those who want
to swim in
the ethereal
pool or explore
the water caves
behind the
falls. (Breakfast,
overnight San
Cristobal). |
|
Day
8:
On
our
last
full
day
together,
we
are
in
for
a
cultural
treat!
A
visit
to
the
indigenous
local
villages
surrounding
San
Cristobal,
to
enjoy
the
hospitality
of
the
families
and
the
exquisite
local
crafts
that
are
created
and
sold
at
their
community
co-ops.
The
afternoon
will
be
free
to
continue
exploring
the
many
wonders
of
San
Cristobal.
We
will
have
a
special
farewell
dinner
to
celebrate
the
gifts
of
new
friendships
made
and
all
the
blessings
received!
(Breakfast/Farewell
dinner,
overnight
San
Cristobal)
